Shiseido introduced Inoui in 1976, taking its name from a French word for something extraordinary or unheard-of. Inspired in part by the 1975 Great Wave exhibition in New York, the green balsamic composition opens with galbanum, juniper, lemon and peach, moves through jasmine, freesia, thyme and pine needle, and settles into cedar, myrrh, oakmoss, civet and musk.
