Angelique began in Wilton, Connecticut in 1946, the same year it introduced Black Satin. The richly aldehydic, woody oriental became the company's best seller, while White Satin followed in 1949 with a lighter floral and softly oriental character. Angelique carried the Satin theme across coordinated bottles and packaging, and became known for imaginative promotions that sent scented snow and perfumed bubbles drifting over Los Angeles.
