Jean Desprez created Crêpe de Chine for F. Millot in 1925, naming it for the softly draped silk that epitomized modern 1920s fashion. The aldehydic woody chypre opens with sparkling citrus and green notes, moves through gardenia, carnation, jasmine, rose and iris, then settles into oakmoss, woods, resins, leather, patchouli and musk. Its elegant balance of light and shadow made it one of Millot's defining perfumes.
