Guerlain introduced the Bouchon Cœur, or “Heart Stopper,” flacon in the early 1910s. Its broad shoulders and sculptural inverted-heart stopper made it one of the house’s most recognizable early designs, and Guerlain used the form for L’Heure Bleue, Fol Arôme and Mitsouko.
This bottle is marked Cristal Nancy, a French crystal maker active during the 1920s and early 1930s. The firm received recognition at the 1925 Paris decorative arts exhibition and supplied luxury perfume bottles before closing in the mid-1930s. The original fragrance label is missing, so the scent cannot be identified. The Cristal Nancy mark places it within an especially interesting period of early Guerlain production.
