In-Depth Summary

Anaïs Anaïs was launched by Cacharel in 1979 and became one of the defining feminine fragrances of its decade. The house of Cacharel, known for its romantic, vintage-inspired fashion aesthetic, brought the same sensibility to its fragrance — dreamy, delicate, and rooted in a femininity that looked to the past rather than chasing contemporary trends.

The composition was the work of four perfumers — Roger Pellegrino, Robert Gonnon, Paul Léger, and Raymond Chaillan — a collaborative effort that produced one of the most cohesive and beautifully balanced green florals of the era.

Anaïs Anaïs opens with a characteristic late-1970s accord of galbanum and fruit — green, slightly tart, and immediately evocative of the era. The fruit recedes quickly, giving way to a luminous floral heart of jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, tuberose, and ylang-ylang, rendered with a sheer, almost watercolor quality. The base adds quiet depth — cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, moss, and amber grounding the composition with a subtle chypre character. This 1/2 fl. oz bottle is a charming and collectible example of the original Parfum de Toilette formulation.
