Guy Laroche's Horizon debuted in Europe in 1993 and arrived in the United States the following year. Created by Alain Astori, this fresh chypre layers grapefruit, herbs and airy green notes with lavender, rosemary and spice before settling into woods, moss, vetiver, leather and musk. For the launch campaign, legendary fashion photographer Herb Ritts photographed American models Ben Bettenhausen and Beri Smither in a nude embrace, half-submerged in a calm sea. The cool blue palette echoed the bottle and packaging, giving the image a serene balance of intimacy, freshness and open-air freedom.
