Nuit de Noël — “Christmas Night” — was created by Ernest Daltroff for Caron in 1922. Citrus gives way to rose, orris, jasmine, and ylang-ylang before sandalwood, vanilla, and oakmoss create its deep, lingering finish. Its presentation became almost as celebrated as the fragrance: an opaque black Baccarat crystal flacon with a gilt band label and faceted stopper, housed in an elaborate case inspired by a Japanese inrō.
