Launched in 1939, Snuff was the only men's fragrance in Elsa Schiaparelli's perfume line. The dry woody-mossy composition moves from aromatic herbs, bergamot and lavender through hay, pine and patchouli to birch, oakmoss, leather, resins, woods and musk. Its name came from one of Schiaparelli's brown fashion shades, and by the 1950s Snuff had expanded into a complete grooming line that included cologne, perfume, after-shave, soap and talc. After being discontinued, Snuff returned in 1977 before eventually disappearing again.
